We have returned from another year at this lovely cottage. Such a wonderful location, and the cottage is well loved and cared for. It has such a homely feel, you would think it was your own (I wish it was). Cannot praise the standard of cleanliness and welcoming feel about this property. The owners or caretakers do a excellent job. Thank you again for letting us enjoy the pleasure of staying in such lovely cottage and watching the world go by. Will be back again next year !!
Have just returned from our first week in the norfolk broads and what a lovely cottage, very relaxing. Nice to wake up to the ducks at the patio doors waiting to be fed. Would recommend The New Inn for food. We had a glorious week where we could just sit out in the evening before nightfall (shame no outside lights to enjoy the night a little bit more). Nice just to watch the boats and the world go by at the end of the garden. Once again thank you for such a clean and comfy cottage,.
Enjoyed a great Easter at Riverbank Cottage and would recommend a stay here. Wonderful location and a very warm, clean and homely cottage where the three generations were very comfortable. Thanks to Ian and Sharon for a very friendly service. We will be back!

Dear Ian and Sharon,
Have just returned from our first visit to your lovely cottage. Had a fabulous 9 days stay (Nov 2014). The cottage is very warm, inviting and extrembly comfortable and you have superbly accommodated to suit all ages. Your communication was second to none and would have no hesitation in recommending your cottage. Will definately return.
Once again many thanks

A lovely week, in a lovely cottage.
Whether you are looking for a quiet retreat riverside, close to the amenities of the village, or a base for a family adventure in and around the Broads, you should look no further than Riverbank Cottage.
Firstly, lets get the negatives out of the way. If you have a problem with; a narrow access (we managed easily with a Kuga & an S-max) / 1 bathroom (there is a downstairs loo) / steepish stairs (we managed with our 18 month old granddaughter), then Riverbank is not for you, otherwise, give it a go, you will be pleased you did.
Onto the positives. We arrived full of expectation, having spent a wonderful week here in May last year. Well, we were not disappointed, we had a great week in a lovely cottage, in part, due to the flexibility of the owners, Ian and Sharon, who were happy with our plan to share the cottage with different parts of our family, over the week.
Our week was well planned and divided into 3 distinct parts.
The first 2 nights we shared the cottage with our son, daughter in law and our 18 month old granddaughter.
The following 2 nights, it was with our daughter, her husband and our grandsons.
The final part was 3 nights on our own, to recuperate.
On arrival, the cottage was just as we expected; clean, bright, well stocked and ready to go. There were dishwasher powder / washing up liquid and all the other ‘bits’ you need and often forget, supplied and free to use.
What can you say when you are told; ‘feel free to use the phone / central heating / Wei’.
With a toddler on the premises, vigilance was the order of the day, but, regular trips down the garden to the river, with either nanna or mummy, to feed the ducks, meant that all went swimmingly and we had a smashing weekend.
Then our grandsons arrived, all bursting with energy, which they started to expend by running around the garden, feeding the ducks and looking foward to Thrigby Hall and Bewilderwood. There were real tears of sadness, when they had to leave for home.
At last, we were on our own and able to wind down.
Thursday saw us take a long walk around the village, a trip on the river boat, followed by a cream tea at the Galley Cafe in the village and finish with dinner at the Bure River Cottage Restaurant, just down the road. A cracking day!
Friday we visited the Blickling Estate. A lovely house, but the weather (pooring rain) prevented us from spending time in the gardens, so, we have a good excuse for a return visit.
Saturday morning saw us watching the start of the 3 rivers race. A wonderful spectacle of sailboats, apparently organised, but looking chaotic, setting off for a race that would see some of them returning in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At Riverbank, we were beautifully placed for all the primary facilities of the village, with the shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways all within very easy walking distance. (The furthest being the chippie, which is about a 10 or 12 minute walk)
All in all, another lovely week at Riverbank.

This latest visit to Horning was our 3rd at Riverbank Cottage and was not a disappointment, in fact, the excellent service we have come to expect from the owners, Ian and Sharon, started before we arrived.
As we were having an early lunch, we received a phone call from Ian, who told us that, as the cottage was ready, we could collect the keys any time we were ready.
On arrival, the cottage was clean, tidy and smelled fresh and a quick run through confirmed that everything was working.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week, utilising the services of the New Inn, the Chinese takeaway and the Bure River Cottage Restaurant, all of which we can recommend.
We plan to return to Horning and to Riverbank . . . . Soon.

Hi we have just had another fabulous week in Riverbank Cottage the second week this year and once again we’re not disappointed it has everything you want for a perfect holiday. It is so fabulously clean and comfortable with perfect location on the river bank with fishing in the main river out of the garden. a fully equipped kitchen. And if you prefer to eat out the New inn pub is right next door serving first class meals at good prices.

We have just returned after our first visit to Riverbank Cottage in Horning.
First abit about Horning.
It is an excellent location for a holiday. There is a choice of 3 pubs, an award winning fish restaurant, a Chinese takeaway, a deli, a coffee bar, a small shop and post office. We tried two of the pubs – of the New In and the Swan Inn I would definitely recommend the Swan – it may be that we went to the New In at a bad time but the food was not very good. The deli is also wonderful – we had lunch there.
You can also take the Mississippi Boat from the village which I would also recommend.
The cottage is extremely comfortable – there is a good size kitchen, diner with a supply of tablets for the dishwasher and everything you need.
There is a lovely sized sitting room with dvd/catch up box/TV with 2 lovely sofas and wonderful views of the River Bure. We loved looking out onto the river and watching the boats go by.
On sunny days you can sit in the garden.
Upstairs the 3 bedrooms are all good sizes.
We have stayed in cottages where you can’t adjust the heating and are either too hot or too cold. In this cottage you can change it all.
We had not been to Norfolk before and found this an excellent base to go to the seaside (if you have young kids I would really recommend Great Yarmouth) or go for walks from the cottage. There is also the BeWILDerwood close by (I really wished my children were young enough to be with us and enjoy).
I would really recommend this cottage.
If you are abit needish (like me) there is a radar museum close by.

This I think, is my 5th visit to river cottage.
Our return was hampered, firstly by covid and then by my wifes cancer.
Ian and Sharon were, as always helpful and flexible, allowing me to delay my visit twice.
Unfortunately, this vist has been made without my wife, but, my family have rallied and have stayed with me this week.
We arrived on time, to find Sharon and Ian repairing the downstairs loo flush, so made the difficult decision to go next door and have a drink at the pub.
A few minutes later Ian and Sharon turned up, to confirm that all was well and Riverbank was ready. That was fine, but, we then spent a very pleasant hour and a half with them both, having a long chat . . . Lovely.
As always, Riverbank was properly ready; clean, smart and tidy.
We have had a brilliant week.
Riverbnk is ideal for us, quiet but close to the pub, secluded but just a few minutes walk to the village.
And all, of course, topped off with the river at the bottom of the garden, where we spent Thursday afternoon, watching all the Platinum Jubilee activity, whilst disposing of two bottles of wine.
Always our first choice accomodation for Horning.
I hope to be able to come again.

Thank you John for your very kind comments, it was lovely to meet you and your family, we are pleased to hear you all enjoyed your stay at Riverbank. Have a safe trip home.

Our first stay at this lovely homely cottage. So good we were able to moor our day boat at the bottom of the immaculate garden. This lovely cottage was so clean and well furnished . We were surprised to find that everything we needed (and everything we had forgotten ) was tucked away in a drawer somewhere.
A few of our family joined us a various times and had a wonderful time, plenty of room and facilities for all of us. Already booked for next year, when I hope to improve on my 12 fish i caught this year without leaving the garden!
Thank you for being so helpful when we had to make some alterations to our schedule because of my wife’s health.
